8 , —Black Mountain (NC) NEWS Thursday, July 8, 1948 SECTION I Conferences Close Second Week At Ridgecrest Wednesday, July 7, sees the close of the second week of Bap tist Sunday School conferences. Approximately 1,500 delegates have attended the sessions this week. The conferences have been directed by Dr. J. N. Barnette, secretary, Sunday School depart ment, Baptist Sunday School board, Nashville, Tenn. Simul taneous conferences have been held daily, except Sunday, for the teachers, officers, and other workers of Baptist Sunday schools of the Southland; each conference has been led by the superintendent of that department for the Baptist Sunday School board. Dr. R. Paul Caudill was the speakef each morning, leading a fervent Bible study. Dr. Caudill is pastor of First Baptist church, Memphis, Tenn. The speaker each evening was Dr. W. Marshall Craig, pastor, Gaston avenue Bap tist church, Dallas, Texas. Boy Scout News TROOP 47 Troop 47 has just returned from a good week at camp Daniel Boone. We passed off some of our requirements and three boys pass ed off the Pathfinding Merit badge, Andy Cook, Arnold Runion and Andy Jumper, Gerald Burgess passed off his second class work. Our acting Scoutmaster won the honor of being elected to the Order of the Arrow. We go before the Board of Re view Friday and to the Court of Honor Monday, July 12. Our troop won two belt awards on table inspection. All boys won swimming awards and the follow ing boys were made C swimmers: John Buckner, Andy Cook, Arnold Runion, Sonny Melton and Stewart Byron. Our next meeting will be held at Tabernacle church on Tuesday, July 13, at 6 o’clock. Every scout is expected to be present. Andy Jumper, Scribe. Look Who’s Here! Mr. and Mrs. C. Bloomstein of Black Mountain announce the birth of a son on June 30 in Mission hospital. Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Parker of Black Mountain are parents of a daughter born June 29 in St. Joseph’s hospital. Wolfe were Fred Wolfe and his son John of Bethle hem, Pa., and Mr. and Mrs. J. Willard Wolfe and children Jane and Barbara Sue of Morristown, N. J.
